This is the place where Father Lucio, in the 1970s, set up a first chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary Queen of the Cosmos; a large hall that probably had been the refectory of the female monastery centuries earlier. The hall was consolidated in 2007 and renovated and furnished in 2023 during the second campaign of restorations directed by architect Angelo Verderosa. The statue of S. Guglielmo (a wooden sculpture by the masters of Ortisei, around 1984) depicts the saint with the converted wolf at Montevergine after killing the donkey. On the right side is the library, recently set up by D. Salvatore Sciannamea, dedicated to Giovanni Palatucci (Montella 1909 – Dachau 1945), among the martyrs of the 20th century, Servant of God and Righteous Among the Nations. Right from the entrance, on the ancient stone wall at the back of the hall, you can see the tabernacle of the Blessed Sacrament, a place for personal worship and prayer. The wooden statue of S. Guglielmo with the wolf is placed to the left of the altar. On the right wall are the paintings of the Via Crucis (Stations of the Cross) depicting the Lord’s Passion. The altar, ambo, and seat are reclaimed pieces. After the 2023 restyling, the hall (70 seats) is simple and functional with the elevation of the presbytery and the new sacristy behind. It reflects the guidelines of the conciliar liturgical constitution for the noble simplicity of the environments, furnishings, and style.
